Healthcare reform gaining steam: What it means to you

Despite the fact that Obama’s healthcare reform is dominating the news these days, many employers are wondering, “How exactly would it affect us?”

With several Congressional committees approving key proposals of the healthcare legislation, here’s what businesses should know:

The healthcare reform bill would require all companies — except for those that fit the definition of a small business — to provide employees with health insurance.

Firms with payrolls above $500,000 that do not provide coverage would be hit with a tax ranging from 2% to 6% of the payroll cost.

In addition, employees must have healthcare coverage or face a tax penalty — although there are certain exemptions for hardships.

Note: Under the current bill, health benefits would not be taxed as income.

And what about universal health care?

Beginning in 2013, any workers with incomes of up to 400% of the federal poverty level would be qualified for a subsidy toward health insurance. They could opt for a plan through a national health insurance exchange — with the government’s plan as one of the options.

Barack Obama as well as all his progressive mafia ought to be embarrassed with themselves. Furthermore this is a total outrage. I seemed to be under the idea that as soon as the president takes office he is obligated to declare an oath that will uphold as well as defend the constitution of the us. Nowhere within the Constitution did it provide the government the right to be able to enact or enforce laws such as the health care reform bill. I believe that these power mongers shall be in for a total shock in November. Best wishes at the collapse of your political careers.

Obviously there are major fundamental differences in how the two parties view the role of government. What I find interesting though – is that the very people this bill would help the most, haven’t taken the time to get the facts about how it can help them. There’s alot of misinformation out there, mostly spread by those that stand to lose – such as high income earners and people that don’t care about anyone but themselves. It’s amazing the the Republicans and the Religious Right have aligned themselves and neither of these groups exhibits any christianity toward their fellow countrymen whatsoever. Do you really believe that every single person that has lost a job or can’t afford healthcare is a deadbeat? If someone is too sick to work through no fault of their own – should we just let them die in the street? We were the ONLY industrialized nation with no safety net for this segment of our citizens. It’s shameful that the greed and manipulation of some has been used to prevent so many from healthcare for so long. The Republican party is trying to brainwash the middle class into thinking this bill is bad for them because the decision-makers know they are outnumbered. Wake up people! If this fails, it will be because the Republicans will do whatever it takes to make sure it fails.

  3. MIKE Says:

It is very curious that liberals, progressibes and socialists use the tenents of Christianity to advance their agenda of making all of us equal not only under the law but also in material well being.

Any time one objects to havings the fruits of his labor “redistributed” by the politicians (whose motives are never pure) he is being accused by the undogly left of being “Un-Christian”, as though they were so godly and well versed in the scriptures.

Jesus advocated love toward fellow man, but did not advocate stealing from the well to do to help the needy.

Obamacare has a lot less to do with advancing health care coverage and cost control and more to do with advancing political power and influence of the dem party using the money extorted from the working populace.
