The holidays are right around the corner, and this year the office holiday party is making a comeback.
Compared to previous years, fewer companies are canceling their parties, and more firms are holding their festivities off-site.
That’s the word from the recent “Holiday Parties in 2010” survey by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
According to the study, 60% of companies plan to hold their holiday parties off-site this year — up from 50% in 2009. And another 29% of companies plan to hold their parties on-site.
Of the companies holding their parties on-site, just 10% are doing so to save money, which is down from the 15% who did so in 2009.
Despite the positive findings in the study, many of the companies that stopped holding parties in 2009 because of financial issues do not plan on reinstating them this year.
