Has your company ever worked out a bargain on a purchasing card? This teen can do you one better.
Police in Middletown, OH say an 18-year-old student at the local high school used hijacked purchasing card numbers to place an order from an online candy vendor. After the teen ordered more than $37,000 in candy bars and lollipops from the Michigan-based Goodies Factory, the company’s employees became highly suspicious.
The confectionaries vendor contacted the school, and after conferring with local police, the company sent an empty box to the requested address. When the teen took the fake delivery into his parents’ house, police promptly arrested him.
School officials and police are still unsure how the student obtained the purchasing card numbers.
