Companies that plan to hire in the near future should have a full crop of candidates to choose from — especially from this group of job seekers.
According to a new survey by the Adecco Group North America, 30% of Gen Y workers plan to seek a new job this year. That’s a significant jump from the 14% who said they planned to do so at the end of 2008.
On top of that, 51% Gen Y workers said they plan to go on a job interview — or have already done so this year.
The study also found that the following groups of workers plan to go on a job interview this year:
- 30% of Generation X workers
- 29% of baby boomers, and
- 22% of workers 61 and older.
It’s seems that an increasing number of workers are planning to look for new jobs despite a lack of confidence in the economy. The study found that 86% of U.S. workers feel the economy is still in a recession, and 78% believe this is the worst job market they’ve ever seem in their careers.
