A deadly incident of workplace violence is every employer’s greatest fear. One recent case has links, to the company’s finance department.
Here’s what happened:
Timothy Hendron, an ABB Inc., employee, walked into the MO-based transformer manufacturing plant, shot and killed three people — and then himself.
In addition to the three fatalities, Hendron also wounded five other employees in the incident.
Authorities are still in the dark about Hendron’s motive; however, he was listed in a 2006 lawsuit against the administrators of ABB Inc.’s retirement plan.
The lawsuit was filed in a federal court. Among other allegations, the suit accuses plan administrators of “unreasonable and excessive” fees and expenses, which were paid by participants — without their knowledge and not for their benefit or for the benefit of the retirement plan.
We’ll keep you posted as more details emerge.
