The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) just announced the FY 2022 per-diem rates, effective Oct. 1, 2021.
And unlike last go-around, you have a new number to rely on when reimbursing road warriors.
Starting Oct. 1, 2021, the new standard location per-diem rate sits at $155, broken out as:
- $96 for lodging, and
- $59 for meals and incidental expenses (M&IE).
That’s a $4 increase over FY 2021’s rate, despite the fact that the lodging number holds steady.
When it comes to non-standard areas (NSAs), you have more changes to contend with:
- The M&IE tiers will range from $59-$79 (most increased), while
- 319 locations make the NSA list.
New tech tool replaces app to navigate 2022 per-diem rates
That’s a lot to keep track of, both for traveling employees and Accounts Payable.
Fortunately, you have a new tech tool to offer to both.
The GSA added a per diem tool that lets you plug in location and dates of travel to get your rates. That can be extremely helpful before folks hit the road to see how staying even in a slightly different location could potentially save significant money.
Unfortunately, you no longer have the mobile app as a compliance checker for the 2022 per-diem rates — the GSA did away with it.
