Convincing the holdouts isn’t easy. Here are a few road-tested ideas you might not have tried.
You know it’s good for them (and your company) to electronically deposit pay directly into employees’ bank accounts. Not every employee agrees.
No doubt you’ve made efforts to get more folks signed on. But these are the best-of-the-best, according to payroll experts:
- Put enrollment forms in with the holdouts’ paychecks. That’s the No. 1 way to get more people enrolled.
- Show ’em money lost. Find out where employees cash their checks. Then you could quantify for them, in dollars and cents, how much they have to spend in gas, check-cashing charges, time, etc., just to get their money.
- Make enrollment forms a must-return. Employees may choose not to sign up, but make it a requirement they tell you that. If they have to turn in a form saying they’ll pass on direct deposit, you’ll have a captive audience for one more pitch.
