Get ready to have a serious case of deja vu! The FY 2021 per diems look a lot like FY 2020’s rates.
In fact, the standard CONUS rate will hold steady for the year beginning October 1.
That number: $151, broken out as $96 for lodging and $55 for meals and incidental (M&IE) expenses.
There’s no change from FY 2020 per diems.
Also staying the same are the five M&IE rates for non-standard areas (NSAs):
- $56
- $61
- $66
- $71, and
- $76.
However, you, your finance team, supervisors and traveling employees will still have to keep track of some changes this go-around.
Changes to NSA rates in FY 2020 per diems
You can take four areas that were on this year’s NSA list off of it. The following have been moved to the standard CONUS FY 2021 per diem rate:
- Gainesville, FL (Alachua County)
- Atlantic City, NJ (Atlantic County and Cape May County)
- College Station, TX (Brazos County), and
- Abingdon, VA (Washington County).
Conversely, Albuquerque, NM (Bernalillo County) takes its place as a new NSA location this year.
Hopefully, the minimal changes should make compliance easier on employees this year. And that will save Accounts Payable time as well.
Be sure to remind your road warriors that the General Services Administration has a mobile app folks can download onto their phones to help them look up FY 2021 per diem rates while on the move.
