Nothing says, “Good job” like cold, hard cash. But when budgets are tight, bonuses and raises aren’t always an option. Luckily, there are other things you can do.
Here are four ways to celebrate employees’ achievements and show them they’re appreciated:
Celebrate their efforts with food. After a long project is completed, make it a point to treat the team to a celebration lunch or breakfast (Bagels, pizza or subs are usually crowd pleasers).
Offer small rewards. If a staffers go above and beyond or surpass a quota, reward them with $10 gift cards or the chance to leave early on Friday.
Let ’em takeover. Ask top performers for their suggestions, and then put them in charge of heading up the project.
Talk about their accomplishments. When people do something well, be sure to mention it places other workers will see — companywide emails, company intranet, office newsletter, etc.
