There’s no need to send out detailed surveys to test employees’ engagement. Getting workers to answer a single question should give you all the info you need.
To find out if your employees are engaged, simply ask them what your company does. If people respond by saying, “We deliver X-service to customers by …,” rest easy, staffers are fully involved in their work. However, if employees use the word “they,” there’s room for improve engagement.
That’s according to Kevin Kruse and Rudy Karsan the authors of “We: How to Increase Performance and Profits Through Full Engagement.”
If you’re looking to bolster employees’ engagement, Kruse suggests doing the following things on a regular basis:
- Offering employees learning- and career-development opportunities, and
- Showing recognition and appreciation for the work employees are doing.
