We’ve all experienced it: The hard-headed “know-it-alls” who favor close-minded arguments over open discussion. Here are three tactics to prevent these workers from draining your firm’s productivity.
- Befriend them. Turn that jerk into a friend. Listen to what they have to say, then agree. If your “know-it-all” colleagues think you value their opinions, they’ll be much more receptive to the ideas you share.
- Ignore them. Arrogant people often look for an argument. Instead of buying into their behavior, simply ignore it. By saying, “I’m too busy for this,” you’ll deny them the opportunity to share their most absurd ideas.
- Confront them. When people try to force their opinions on you, firmly tell them that it’s not going to happen. Hopefully, they’ll get the point and avoid arguing with you in the future.
