Small business owners will often go to great lengths to push their competition out of the picture, but this may take the cake.
Nickolas Galiatsatos, the owner of Nina Bella Pizzeria, allegedly tried to sabotage his competition — by strategically placing bags of live mice inside local pizza shops.
How did Galiatsatos get caught?
According Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood, the owner of Verona Pizza watched Galiatsatos come into his shop carrying a bag. Galiatsatos then went into pizzeria’s restroom with the bag but emerged from the bathroom empty-handed.
Verona’s owner alerted two patrol officers who were eating at his restaurant, and they found a bag of mice in the bathroom.
The officers eventually tracked down Galiatsatos outside of Uncle Nick’s, another competing pizzeria. The rogue pizza owner was spotted putting something into a trash can, and officers found another bag filled with mice.
Said Chitwood of the whole affair, “I’ve been at this for 47 years, and I’ve never seen mice used as a criminal tool.”
