Every year, a new crop of utterly useless corporate buzzwords invades workplaces across the country like a plague.
Accountemps recently polled 150 senior execs from the 1,000 largest U.S. companies and asked, “What is the most annoying or overused phrase or buzzword in the workplace today?”
For people who appreciate plain speech, these buzzwords and phrases sound like fingernails on a chalkboard.
Here are ten of worst (in no particular order):
- Reach out
- It is what it is
- Game changer
- Circle back
- Socialize, and
Altogether: In order to leverage our relationship with clients, we really need to reach out and tout our viral capabilities, socialize our marketing campaigns and interface with all regional sales reps. Needless to say, the market has been difficult, but it is what is. Indeed, what we do from this moment forward will be a real game changer for the organization. Our strategy will increase the value-add of the latest marketing initiative.
