Ask a group of CFOs if they’re interested in cloud computing, and you’ll likely get a resounding, “Of course.” Ask them what cloud computing actually entails, and you may be met with some blank stares.
In fact, 29% of finance chiefs admitted they “really don’t know what ‘cloud computing’ even means,” according to a recent study by CFO Magazine.
Another 27% said they were “exploring our options but don’t know when or if we’ll use cloud services.”
Despite some confusion about the finer points, most finance chiefs are at least intrigued by the prospect of cloud computing. What’s more, many firms believe implementing cloud services will lead to major changes in their IT departments.
CFO Magazine found that 44% of CFOs believe cloud computing will allow them to “significantly rethink and restructure” their IT strategy.
