After your team wraps up its current year-end responsibilities, make sure EEO-1 reporting gets placed near the top of its to-do list. Reason: The EEOC has announced the 2021 EEO-1 Component 1 report will be due May 17, 2022 — and the window for filing will be shorter than usual.
Tentatively, the data collection will begin April 12, 2022, the EEOC recently said.
Note: The 2019 and 2020 EEO-1 Component 1 data collections, which had their deadlines pushed back to Oct. 25, 2021, are now closed.
Remember, all private sector employers with 100 or more employees must annually submit workforce demographics data. Also, federal contractors with 50 or more employees have the same reporting responsibilities. The EEO-1 asks for race/ethnicity, sex and job categories.
No more Type 6 reports for EEO-1
Be aware of this change: The Type 6 Establishment List Report for businesses with fewer than 50 employees won’t be available anymore.
Now, all filers reporting data for locations with fewer than 50 employees must use a Type 8 Establishment Report when filing the EEO-1.
Deadlines for other EEO reports
The deadline has passed for state and local governments to file the 2021 EEO-4 report. That was due by Jan. 4, 2022. The EEOC says it’ll continue to accept the EEO-4 only until Feb. 15, 2022.
And looking ahead:
- Local unions can begin filing the 2022 EEO-3 on Aug. 23, 2022.
- After that, the filing window for public elementary and secondary schools to file the 2022 EEO-5 will open on Sept. 27, 2022.
