A number of lucky businesses could get some help with their wellness plans soon, courtesy of the federal government. Will you be one of them?
In an initiative funded by the healthcare reform law, the feds plan to spend around $9 million to measure the effectiveness of workplace wellness programs and help employers support healthy lifestyles and cut risk factors associated with chronic diseases.
The feds have chosen Phoenix-based Viridian Health Management to work with between 70 to 100 small, mid-size and large businesses – in seven regions across the country.
Viridian will help the selected businesses develop or expand their wellness programs by promoting physical activity, proper nutrition and tobacco cessation.
