Even with companies of all stripes offering unbeatable promotions, this four-star hotel’s deal seemed too good to be true.
Instead of its usual prices (one-night stays run from $128-$241 U.S. dollars), the Italian hotel recently offered customers the opportunity to stay in Rome for a whopping 1 euro cent — much, much, much cheaper than even the dingiest hostel.
While the “deal” was originally thought to be the work of a hacker with a penchant for screwing over corporations, it was later downgraded to a simple human error.
To its credit, the hotel says it will honor the reservations and rate. Even though the offer was only up on the Web site for one night, it’s expected to cost the hotel around 130K.
