When it comes to unused purchasing cards, how long should you wait before you officially make them inactive? Here’s what your peers said.
Most employers allow p-cards to go unused for a full year before they’re considered inactive.
That’s according to the recent “Inactive Cards: Metrics and Approaches” study by National Association of Purchasing Card Professionals.
The study also found that:
- 23% of companies wait six months before considering unused cards inactive,
- 25% take it on a situation-by-situation basis, and
- 23% never inactivate p-cards.
Remember: Most p-cards give employers a number of options to choose from when it comes to deciding on an “inactivate” date for seldom-used cards.
