With Memorial Day in books and Fourth of July right around the corner, vacation season is in full swing. But can employees afford to take some time off this summer?
The good news is that many workers will be taking some much-needed vacation time this summer.
A recent CareerBuilder survey found that employees planned on taking the following time off this summer:
- A vacation of seven to 10 days
- A vacation of three to five days or a weekend getaway, and
- Two weeks or longer.
The bad news? The survey also found that almost a quarter (24%) of workers said they couldn’t afford to take vacation this year — up from 21% last year.
Countless studies have proven that taking vacation not improves employees’ overall well-being, but it also bolsters their productivity. So it may be a good idea to let staffers know that taking some personal time away from the office is actually encouraged by your company.
